Official PopFest 2011 Hotel: Comfort Suites Downtown: Great Rate, Lovely Accommodations
September 25, 2011

This is the first year we've experienced the level of support from a hotel to allow us to name an official PopFest hotel.  We're pleased to announce that the Comfort Suites Downtown is our official hotel this year.  The Comfort Suites® Downtown is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Athens and just one mile from the Classic Center.  This hotel features many amenities including free continental breakfast, free weekday newspaper and free coffee in the lobby. Guests will appreciate high-speed Internet access, a business center, the all-suite hotel's spacious rooms that include refrigerators, microwaves, irons, ironing boards and hair dryers. Some rooms have whirlpool bathtubs. This is a pet-friendly hotel with a nightly fee. There are guest laundry facilities available on the premises.

The rate for this year's PopFest travelers is $69.99 per night.  To make reservations, you can visit their website (using the code LPOPF), or call the hotel at 706.995.4000 and mention the PopFest when you register.

Poptoberfair Craft + Comic + Record Show at the 2011 PopFest!
September 25, 2011

This year, we've added a new event to PopFest, and it is our first event that isn't a musical performance.  We'd like to introduce the Poptoberfair, an event that brings together special editions of three annual Athens events under one roof.  We've combined Indie Craftstravaganzaa, FLUKE Mini-Comics and Zine Festival, and the Secret Record Swap to bring over 12,000 square feet of crafts, comics, and records to downtown Athens!

Located in the Classic Center, the Poptoberfair will take place on Saturday, October 15, the final day of PopFest, from 10 AM to 6 PM. There will be plenty of time to check it out without missing shows.  The event is free with a PopFest wristband, available here, or $5 for general admission.

What if I want to exhibit my records, crafts, or comics at Poptoberfair?

You certainly can.  Depending on what you want to show or sell, you should go the the following places to make arrangements:

Indie Craftstravaganzaa

FLUKE Comics, Zines, and Independent Publshing

Secret Record Swap

There are still tables open, but register soon to reserve space.

Hope to see you there!

You've probably seen the around town, gotten one in your newspaper, or picked them up at a restuarant, but if you haven't had a chance to look through it, you can download the Guide to PopFest here.  It has the full schedule, band biographies, feature articles by Gordon Lamb, Scott Creney, and Dave Commins, and plenty of other fun stuff.
